This place is literally our favorite place to be as a family. Wild, happy and free. We spent our days swimming, hiking, lounging, boating, playing on the rocky beach and just enjoying each other. I so value the time we get to spend together the three of us as a family (you can read more about why here). We made some of the best memories this past week and that makes me so happy! Above are a round-up of photos from the trip. It was extremely smokey except for 3 days during our time out here – a sad reminder of the devastating wild fires in British Columbia. We are sincerely praying for rain.

It was so nice to spend time with my dad and family too, hanging around the cabin and making meals together. Ada and my dad shared some beautiful moments playing the piano and singing “Bah Bah Black Sheep” together. We are so thankful for the time where Ada can spend time with my family and build special bonds with everyone in their own ways. My step-sister spent a ton of time just sitting and playing with her – its so special.

There was a massive influx of people at the cabin for the long weekend – mostly my step-brothers and their friends. But even with all the people, the cabin is so enjoyable and there are so many little private hide-a-way spots to go and be. The cabin is set up with a handful of separate outdoor spaces to hide-a-way in, read a book, or suntan. It’s nice to be able to duck out and spend some quiet time to recharge if you need to.

I cannot believe how fast Ada is learning things, especially while we have been away. It’s blowing our minds! She is singing songs and starting to string words together to form 2 and 3 word phrases. Colin and I are so impressed with how much she is able to communicate with us. I know she is our daughter, but we are just so proud of her and her ability to pick up on things and impersonate us. Like when I get out of the shower and I’m putting lotion on, Ada begs to help, or have her own lotion to rub on her legs or belly. It cracks me up. She is such a sweetie.

Just a few days ago I was out on the front deck painting my toe nails pink, and there comes Ada, barreling down towards me asking for me to paint her toes too! It was a little difficult to get her to sit still enough to get them painted, but she was so cute and so proud of her pink toes. Monkey see, monkey do. Both Colin and I keep saying that we really have to watch what we say and do now around her because she is suuuuuppper impressionable and loves trying to repeat things we do! I have to find a new favorite word…

We are off to spend a couple of days in Kelowna before we head home back to reality. Colin, Ada and I are there attending a wedding of a really special friend I grew up ski racing with. I lived with her and her family for a couple of years and they all played such a large part in my life! Very excited to see everyone and visit.

Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend, got out and took advantage of the time!

 xoxo Andrea
